Franklin Paul Tenney's Obituary
Franklin Paul Tenney 84, formerly of Casco, Maine died January 30th at Haven Hospice in Gainesville, Florida. He was born November 1st, 1931 at the Tenney Homestead on Quaker Ridge, Casco, Maine son of Warren Nathan Tenney and Inez Knight Tenney. He was a twin and one of eleven children all born at Quaker Ridge. Along with his siblings they attended the one-room schoolhouse on Quaker Ridge and Casco High School.
He moved his family from Tenney Hill, Casco to Gainesville, Florida in 1966 to
be near his oldest brother Arnold and family who had settled there after WWII.
Frank and Gertie have lived fifty years in the house they purchased in Gainesville and celebrated their 64th anniversary there last year. Before being medically retired in 1986 due to an on-the-job accident, he was a Construction Superintendent building schools, Armories, and other related structures and interesting projects. He was known for his custom masonry
fireplaces as many of his brothers were known for in Maine.
He was predeceased by daughter Carolyn Tenney Signore Glasgow, two granddaughters: Elizabeth Signore Cox and Michelle Tenney, and his parents, nine of his siblings: Arnold, Guy, Arline, Beaulah, Emma, Alton, Gloria, twin sister Frances, and brother Marshall. Brother Melvin of Naples, Maine survives him.
He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Gertie Tenney, son Colin Paul Tenney, daughters: Rhonda Tenney Crawford, and Paula Tenney McLamb, twelve grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren, as well as many nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, February 3, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. at WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME WESTAREA, 823 NW 143rd (County Road 241) Newberry, FL 32669. Reception to follow. Family will receive friends one hour prior to service beginning at 1:00 p.m.
