Frank Joseph Walch I's Obituary
On November 17, 2016, Frank Joseph Walch I passed away unexpectedly in Concord, North Carolina. He was born June 6, 1916 in New York City and had celebrated his 100th birthday in Gainesville, Florida earlier this year with his friends and family. He was the son of Josefa Brunner and Frank Josef Walch. Frank was a dairy farmer and raised tomatoes in the Hilltown area of Pennsylvania. He moved to Gainesville in 1968 and then retired to Hawthorne, FL where he was a member of Saint Philip Neri Catholic Church for over 35 years.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Sarah Elizabeth Oliver; his sisters, Josephine Gannon and Mary Seidel, and twin brothers Louis Walch and John Walch. He is survived by his two daughters, Mary Lou Acosta of Pasadena, CA and Kathleen E. Turner of Concord, NC; his son, Frank Joseph Walch II and his wife, Judy Snyder Walch of Gainesville, FL; grandchildren Joseph Yanover, Dr. Mary Leona Walch Pippin and husband, Dr. Jerrid Pippin and Dr. Frank Joseph Walch III of Denver CO; great grandchildren, Joseph Yanover, Nicole Yanover, Kelly Yanover, James Yanover and Jerrid Pippin II. He was loved and will be greatly missed by his friends and relatives.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, November 26, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in St. Philip Neri Catholic Church, 7919 SE US Hwy 301, Hawthorne, with Fr. Dung Bui officiating. Interment will follow in Hawthorne Cemetery. The family will receive friends 30 minutes prior to the service, beginning ta 9:30 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Heart Association or St. James the Greater Catholic Church in Concord, NC.
