To Frank's loved ones, please accept my condolences for your loss and know that I share in your grief. When I first came to UF as an assistant professor, Frank had the office catty-cornered from mine. Every Saturday for my first year, he and I would be the only ones slaving away in our offices. Not only did he take breaks from his work to make idle chitchat with me to make me feel welcome, but soon he was regaling me with stories about his time in the Navy during WWII or the family stories he was transcribing for future generations. We shared a mutual love of history, and his stories were even more fascinating because he had LIVED them! I was sad when he changed offices, and I missed our regular history chats. He was a wonderful man whose kindness for a young professor who wasn't even in his department made all the difference. He will be greatly missed! I will keep his family and friends in my prayers.
