Frank Joseph Jurkiewicz Jr.'s Obituary
Frank Joseph Jurkiewicz Jr. of Gainesville, FL passed away on May 15th, 2026, at 80 years old. Frank was born on November 5th, 1945, in Jersey City, New Jersey to Frank Sr. and Marie Calantrino Jurkiewicz. He loved growing up on the Jersey shore. He attended Weehawken High School, then enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1963. He served honorably during the Vietnam War until 1969 earning the rank of Sergeant. His time in the Marines forged a lifelong commitment to the values of honor, courage, and commitment. He carried the title of Marine with immense pride throughout his entire life. “Once a Marine, always a Marine!”
Following his military service, he married his high school sweetheart Marie McLaughlin and began a career in manufacturing. They later moved to West Chester, Ohio. and he worked as a supervisor for over 30 years.
Frank was known for his disciplined work ethic and generous heart. He loved traveling, golfing, the NY Yankees, Notre Dame football, playing pinochle, and watching movies. After retirement, he spent many weekends with friends at their second home on Lake Waynoka in Ohio. Frank was a beloved son, husband, dad, and “Pops”. He and his late wife celebrated their 55th Wedding Anniversary last May.
He was preceded in death by his parents Frank Sr. and Marie Jurkiewicz, youngest son Thomas Jurkiewicz, and his wife Marie Jurkiewicz.
He is survived by his son Frank (Sheena) Jurkiewicz III of Gainesville, FL and three grandchildren Alaina, Evan, and Liliana.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, May 30th, 2026, 11:00am. The family will receive friends half an hour prior to the mass for a time of visitation. The service will take place at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 10900 SW 24th Ave., Gainesville, FL.
Frank’s funeral service will be live streamed on Facebook under his daughter-in-law, Sheena Jurkiewicz’s, account.
