Francis “Frank” Hugh Hamill, Born September 16, 1928 passed away on November 22, 2024 Gainesville, FL.
Frank was born in Elmvale, Ontario, Canada to Mary McGill, John Hamill on September 16, 1928, came to US when he was 2yrs old.
He lived in Brighton Park, IL most of his life. He moved to Wauconda, IL in 1978, then Florida in 2010.
He served in the Army as a forward observer on the front line in the Korean War earning two purple hearts.
He worked 13 years at Solo Cup Co. as machinist and retired at 63.
Francis was preceded in death by his wife of 46 years Barbara E. Hamill, and his 5 brothers and sisters. Grandson Sean McBride and Son in Law Donald Files
Frank is survived by his companion and partner Shirley Ann Beazlie, Children: Arthur Hamill (Cheryl), Ellen Files, Kevin Hamill (Jen), Ann Hamill, Barb Hamill, Nephew Ralph Langton (Janet) 10 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren.
He had many hobbies and interests, loved his flea markets finding the deal of the day, was a collector of coins, old irons, marbles and fixing old brass fans like new. Fishing, planting his black walnut trees and evergreens and gardening and he loved to dance. Betting on them horses always just missing the big win. Watching the stock market trying to make that million. He was avid woodworker made multiple tables, lamps, bookshelves for all his girls.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Salvation Army or Wounded Warrior Project, or your favorite Charity.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Mary Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 442 N. West Ave. Elmhurst, IL on Friday, December 6, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. Burial will follow at Arlington Cemetery, 401 East Lake St. Elmhurst, IL
