Frances "Patty" R. Anderson's Obituary
Frances “Patty” R. Anderson, 82 of Alachua, Florida, died peacefully on Saturday, February 17, 2018. Patty was born in Lakeland, Florida to Selvyn and Beulah Robinson. She grew up in Williston, Florida, with her siblings Lavon, Raymond, and Glen. Patty attended Florida State University and after graduation she moved to St. Cloud, Florida, to begin her teaching career. Patty met her husband, Ronald Anderson, and after getting married in 1959, the couple settled in the Gainesville and Alachua area where Patty eventually retired after a long teaching career mostly at Newberry High School.
Patty was known for her love of flowers and cooking. She enjoyed entering flower arranging contests and was an active member of Four Season Garden Club. Patty also enjoyed golfing, traveling with family and friends, playing mahjongg, square dancing, playing bridge, and reading. Patty was a calm person who had an inner competitive spirit.
Patty was preceded in death by her husband of 58 years, Ron Anderson, and is survived by her sister, Lavon Mikell of Molena, Georgia, and brother, Glen Robinson of Williston, Florida; her children Roy, Susan, and Jimmy Anderson; eight grandchildren, Christina, John, Ben, Casey, Jordan, Tyler, Trey, and Sienna; and six great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Life will be held, Saturday, March 3, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. in the chapel of WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME WESTAREA, 823 NW 143rd Street, with a reception to follow. Those who wish may make a donation to the Alzheimer’s Association, www.alz.org.
