Frances Clarice "Coot" Adkins' Obituary
Frances Clarice “Coot” Parrish Adkins, aged 88, passed away peacefully at Haven Hospice in Chiefland, Florida. Born and raised in Trenton, Florida, Coot lived in Alachua after her marriage to Bobby J. Adkins. A lifelong fan of the Florida Gators, she dedicated many years as a bus driver for the Alachua County School System, a role she cherished and often spoke fondly of, especially regarding the children on her route as they grew up. Coot was also active in the PTA for many years.
In her later years, she moved in with her nephew after the passing of her daughter. Coot had a passion for family gatherings and fishing, leaving behind cherished memories for those who knew her.
She is preceded in death by her husband Bobby J. Adkins, her son Eddie Joe Parrish, her daughter Tami Layne Adkins, and her parents Mattie and Leander Parrish. Coot is also preceded by her brothers, Herbert C. Sr. (Barbara) Parrish and Thomas “Sug” (Ruby) Parrish.
Coot is survived by her two stepsons, Bobby (Deeta) Adkins of Gainesville and Joey Adkins of Atlantic Beach; her devoted nephew and caregiver, Ronald E. “Gene” (Theresa) Parrish of Trenton; grandsons Jeremy (Christina) Parrish of Starke and Maxx Adkins of Keystone Heights; granddaughters Jennifer Parrish of Brooker, Kennedy Preski of Miami, and Rachel Adkins of Jacksonville; as well as many great-granddaughters, one great-great-granddaughter, and a large circle of friends and family who will deeply miss her.
Graveside services will be held on Tuesday, October 29, 2024, at 10:00 a.m. at the Center Hill Cemetery, 3960 SE Co Rd 232, Trenton, FL 32693. Family will receive friends Monday, October 28, 2024 from 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Williams-Thomas Westarea, 823 NW 143rd Street, Newberry.
