Flora Gregory Comins' Obituary
Flora Gregory Comins, 96, longtime resident of Gainesville, Florida, died Friday, March 16, 2018 at her home, following a long illness.
Mrs. Comins was born on December 10, 1921 in Dallas, Texas to the late Col Harry Howard, Sr. and Blanche Fry Gregory. She grew up in South Carolina and as a young lady joined the U. S. Army, serving in the Women’s Air Corps. In 1944, she married Mr. Sanford A. Comins, to whom she was married for 29 years, until his death in 1973. Mrs. Comins worked for the U. S. Soil Conservation Service for many years. She was a member of Gainesville Woman’s Club and the N. A. R. F. E, National Association of Retired Federal Employees, and was a longtime member of First Baptist Church of Gainesville.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandra C. Hancock, of Pensacola and a sister, Rebecca Futtrel, of Laurens, S.C. and two very special caregivers John Palmour and Wanda Lawrence.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, March 22, 2018, at 2:00 P. M., in the First Baptist Church of Gainesville, 14105 NW 39th Avenue, with Rev. Lynn Williams, officiating.
