Fidella Sparks Eddy's Obituary
Mrs. Eddy passed away on September 1, 2025 in Gainesville, Florida surrounded by her loving daughters. She was born on October 12, 1933 in Louise, FL to the late Andrew & Mary Sparks. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 37 years Maxie Eddy, Sisters Eladora (Jack), Juanita (Hazen). Brothers Byron, Roger (FloraMae), Luther (Thelma), Albert “Beno” (Almaleta), and George.
She is survived by her daughters Elizabeth “Libby” Bridges (George) of Newberry, FL and Debra Willingham (John) of Newberry, FL. Grandchildren Sarah Conner (Jody) of Apex, NC, Leslie Golden (John) of High Springs, FL, and Shelby Fillingim III (Heather) of Newberry, FL. Four Step Grandchildren Stacy Barton (Robert) of Ocala, Jessica Fillingim Allee of St. Augustine, FL, Ryan Willingham (Alyson), Conner Willingham of Gainesville and Trace Willingham of Gainesville, FL. She was blessed with thirteen great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Eddy was retired from Florida Farm Bureau Federation Office after 23 years of service. She loved her job and those that she worked with. Once she retired, she enjoyed working in her yard, reading, traveling and spending time with her family. She adored her little dog “Buddy” for many years, he brought her much joy. Most of all, she loved her family.
Her daughters chose September 5th to celebrate their Mother’s life as this is their Parent’s Wedding Anniversary. Now they are reunited and celebrating 70 years! Bless their hearts!
Funeral Services for Fidella will be held at 2:00 PM on Friday, September 5, 2025, at Williams-Thomas Westarea chapel, 823 NW 143rd St. Newberry, FL 32669. Family will receive friends thirty minutes before the service starting at 1:30 PM. Burial will follow at Rock Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery, Brooker, FL.
