Evelyn Irene George Purtee's Obituary
Evelyn Irene George Purtee, loving Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother, passed away peacefully Friday, August 17, 2018, surrounded by her loving family. Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, Denver Purtee; sister, Louise George Jagodzinski; parents, Dorsey and Bertha George.
She is survived by her children, Kathleen Purtee Lampe (Bill -deceased), Philip Purtee (Molly) and Cheryl Purtee Ramsey (Dennis); grandchildren, James Denver Lampe (Tracey), Cynthia Lampe Smith (Chris) John Denver Ramsey (Shandell), Michael Purtee (Sydney); great grandchildren, Brodie Smith, Alise Smith, Jayden Lampe, Jordan Lundy, Cody Ramsey and Elijah Ramsey.
Evelyn loved her NE neighborhood and all the families residing there while raising her children. She retired from the University of Florida, College of Education, after 20 years of dedicated service. She was a devoted member of Highlands Presbyterian Church and loved to bowl, read and spend time with her friends cruising North Central Florida roads.
A Funeral Service will be held Thursday, August 23, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. in the chapel of WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME DOWNTOWN, 404 North Main Street. The family will receive friends one hour prior to service beginning at 5:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to, Thornwell – Home for Children, 302 South St., Clinton, SC 29325.
