Evelyn Louise Johns Hooten's Obituary
Evelyn Louise Johns Hooten, loving wife and mother, age 89 of Newberry, Florida, passed away Wednesday, February 18, 2015. She was born August 19, 1925 in Lakeland, Florida to Mathew Monroe Johns and Kate Atkinson Johns.
Evelyn graduated from Gainesville High School. She worked as a telephone operator and she worked at the University of Florida Infirmary. She enjoyed sewing, growing her own garden and canning.
She is survived by her husband, Roderick Hooten; daughter, Rhonda (Roger) Ehrig; sons, R. Lewis Hooten, Damon (Dana) Hooten and Gary Hooten; grandchildren, Arabella and Mathew.
She was preceded in death by siblings, Mary Frances Owens, Betty Shearouse, Ernest Johns, Carlton Johns and Edward Johns.
A Funeral Service will be held Saturday, February 28, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. at, Memorial Park Central Chapel 4100 NW 39th Avenue with Rev. Jennifer L. Sacks of Unity of Gainesville Church officiating. The family will receive friends Friday, February 27, 2015, 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME WESTAREA, 823 NW 143rd Street.
