Eugene Lee Funkhouser's Obituary
Eugene Lee Funkhouser, 84, of Leesburg, Georgia, formerly of Alachua, Florida passed away on February 27, 2023, at his residence. He was born in Mishawaka, Indiana on September 29, 1938. Gene graduated from Santa Fe High School in 1959. He was married to the love of his life Arlene Holton on August 18, 1959.
He worked for A.C. Legg for 20 years and had been in the sausage and spice industry for 60 years. During his career, he made many lifelong friends who he cherished dearly.
He is survived by his wife Arlene Funkhouser of 64 years, daughter Lori Cook (Terry), and granddaughter Amanda Hyde (Lawrence) all of Leesburg, Georgia. He is also survived by his brothers Dennis and Bobby Funkhouser and numerous nieces and nephews that he loved dearly.
He is preceded in death by his parents Myrna and Ross Funkhouser and siblings Floyd/Sonny Funkhouser and Betty Gentry.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 4, 2023, at 3:00 p.m. at Williams-Thomas Funeral Home Westarea 823 N.W. 143rd Street Newberry, FL. with Pastor Tim Spivey as officiant. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service beginning at 2:00 p.m. Interment will follow in Newnansville Cemetery 12308 W State Rd 235 Alachua, FL.
