Ethel Morgenstern's Obituary
Ethel Morgenstern, in residence at Ayers Medical in Trenton, Florida since May 2011, transitioned into her final sleep on October 24, 2018. Ethel was born in Bronx, NY on April 16, 1925 to Gertrude Hechler and Morris Hechler.
Ethel graduated from high school in 1943, a very bright, shy girl with aspirations to be a fashion designer concentrating on dresses and related apparel. She had a deep and abiding interest in art, music, theatre and dance. Opera was precious to her. And this interest in music and the arts was passed to each of her three children.
Ethel was an avid and discerning reader of fine literature and current affairs, especially topics concerning human rights, the environment and healthy lifestyles. This was equally true with her interests in women's issues and the civic duty to cast informed votes in every election.
Ethel always had pets in her life, and ended with her irreplaceable Daisy, a golden Lab gifted by her daughter. She poured care and affection into this dog daily, and Daisy returned the favor giving Ethel a loving focal point in her daily life. Ethel's decline began shortly after Daisy’s death after 15 years.
Ethel is predeceased by her loving spouse, Melvin of 60 years. She is survived by her eldest daughter, Barbara Camadeco of Newport, R.I.; daughter, Nancy Moon and spouse, Norris Moon of Archer, FL; son, Alan Morgenstern and spouse, Nancy Morgenstern of Hurley, N.Y. As well, she is survived by grandson, Michael Camadeco and spouse, Kaitlin with daughters, Cora and Shelby; grandson, Jonathan Camadeco and spouse, Marga with son, Leo (and a new baby pending). Also, Ethel is survived by grandsons, Evan Moon and Andrew Moon; granddaughter, Rose Moon and spouse, Chris McHale with sons, Oliver and Ezra; grandson, Joshua Morgenstern, and granddaughter, Nicole Morgenstern with son, Emmett.
Ethel entered and left the world with sweetness, humility and grace.
A Graveside Service will be held Monday, October 29, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. in B’nai Israel Cemetery. The family encourages donations to the Alachua County Humane Society, 4205 NW 6th St, Gainesville, FL 32609, or to the Alzheimer's Association, 14010 Roosevelt Blvd #709, Clearwater, FL 33762, in lieu of flowers or wreaths.
