Ethel Hancock's Obituary
Ethel Smith Hancock, age 89, of Alachua, FL, died Saturday, March 19, 2022. Ethel was born January 13, 1933, in Chiefland, FL to Berry and Ellen Locke Smith. Ethel worked for General Electric on their assembly line. She and her husband, Jack had four children. Family was very important to Ethel. She wanted everyone to love one another and stay close as a family. She was of the Baptist faith. Besides spending quality time with her family, Ethel loved music and fishing.
Ethel was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jack Daniel Hancock, a sister, Thelma Lindsey, and brother’s Mert and Jake Smith.
Ethel is survived by her children, Jackie (Doyle) Thomas, Troy (Rainey) Hancock, Gail (Carl) Summers, and Janet (Ronald) Parrish, a brother, Berry Smith, sister, Elmer Holt. Also surviving are 12 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Family will receive friends, Tuesday, March 22, 2022, from 5:00-7:00PM at Williams-Thomas Funeral Home Downtown 404 N Main St. A graveside service will be held Wednesday, March 23, 2022, at 11:00AM at Newnansville Cemetery, Alachua FL with Rev. Doyle Thomas officiating.
