Esther S. Busch's Obituary
Esther S. Busch went home to be with the Lord on December 18, 2018, born March 12, 1923 in Boston, MA, 1940 graduated from Ridgefield Park High School, NJ, and married her high school sweetheart, Charles E. Busch, August 30, 1942 in San Antonio, TX while he trained with the Army Air Core Flight School. Esther secured secretarial work prior to Charles 1943 pilot graduation and throughout his career.
They raised three children during Charles service in the Air Force in TX, Trinidad, LA, AK, VA (Pentagon), Okinawa, CO before retiring to FL. At age 90 Esther wrote a true story history book “Our Love Story” later changing the title to coincide with her husband’s career to “1942 Life of a Cadet.” Esther loved the Lord, her bible, family and people; love understanding and forgiveness were her goals. Her joy was playing bridge Monday nights with the Gainesville Bridge Club. She reached a title of Regional Master in the American Contract Bridge League and was less than four points away from achieving North American Bridge Championship Master status.
Esther was preceded in death by her husband of 69 years; her parents, Mary and Bill Smith and sister, Connie Hasselhuhn. She is survived by her children William, Virginia and Anita Busch; grandchildren; Deborah and Adam Lawson, Mike Busch, Kimberly Biddle, Jason Patterson, Christina and Aaron Weinkle; great grandchildren; Sarah Cardwell, CJ Busch, Alyssa Lawson, Samantha Falcone, Taylor, Coby, Riley and Parker Biddle, Zoey and Kaylee Weinkle; great, great grandchildren; Bradley and Trenton Cardwell-Smith, Araya and Kip Smith, Matthew and Emma Drumm.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, January 26, 2019 at 1:00 p.m., at WILLIAM THOMAS FUNERAL HOME DOWNTOWN, 404 North Main Street, Gainesville, FL.
