Erma Haynes' Obituary
Erma Haynes was called to her eternal rest on Monday, September 28, 2015. A loving wife, sister, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She is survived by her husband, Doug, her sister Kathy of Gainesville, and brother, Sonny, of Jacksonville, her children Terry, Cameron and Lisa, 7 grandchildren, Tara, Loree, Austin, Erik, Kristin, Faith and Landon and 3 great-grandchildren, Zachary, Alexander, and Jamison.
Mom loved her flowers, but more than them, she loved people. She loved to cook, but more than cooking, she loved to feed those whom she loved. She fed our bodies and our souls. She wanted us to have seconds, and thirds, and even then she would “fix us a plate to go.” Erma loved to shop, but that was because she loved to give. Her bargaining skills allowed her to have enough stored up to help anyone through their time of need, willing to not just replace, but double or triple the things we had lost. She knew our needs, both physical and spiritual and did so much to keep us filled. Erma loved to tidy up, and that was because she wanted only the best for those around her. She was our refuge from the messiness of the world. We were all her children, and there could never be a better “Mom.” God has a special place for this lovely lady, and we will miss her deeply.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at 11:00 A. M., in the Chapel of Williams-Thomas Funeral Home Westarea, 823 NW 143rd St. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 A. M. In lieu of flowers, please make donations in Erma’s name to the Florida Guardian Ad Litem Foundation, P. O. Box 10688, Tallahassee, FL 32302 or online at www.flgal.org .
Because red was Erma’s favorite color, all of the friends and family are encouraged to wear red to better honor her beautiful life.
