Emma Jean Touchton Fountain's Obituary
Emma Jean Touchton Fountain died September 1, 2024. She was a long-time resident of Gainesville, Florida.
Jean was born in Levy County, Florida, on June 13, 1932, to Gordon and Josie (Minton) Touchton. She had five siblings – Mae, Eloise, Jeanette, Annette, and Donald. Jean grew up in the tri-county Levy/Gilchrist/Marion area, later moving to Alachua County after her marriage to Jesse Fountain.
She and Jesse, whom she had known since early childhood, had a good marriage and provided a happy home for their two children. One could not ask for better parents,
A quiet, gentle, kind, loving, caring person, Jean was a devout Christian, and a wonderful wife and mother. She will be dearly missed by all of us who loved her and were graced to have her in our lives. She was an extraordinary woman.
Jean is predeceased by her parents, siblings, and husband. She often said that she felt blessed and fortunate to have had such good people as family.
She is survived by her children, Jim and Carol, and many nieces and nephews.
Her funeral is scheduled for Thursday, September 19, 2024, at the Williams-Thomas Funeral Home Downton Chapel, 404 North Main Street, Gainesville, Florida. Viewing will take place that day from 9 A.M. to 11 A.M., at the funeral home, followed by the funeral service at 11 A.M.
She will be buried next to her husband of nearly half a century, at Forest Meadows Central Cemetery, Gainesville, Florida.
