Emily Elizabeth Courtney (nee Johnston) died unexpectedly at her home on December 4, 2015 in Newberry, Florida at the age of 82.
Emily is survived by her children, Don Kevin Courtney, Fayetteville, NC, Teresa Gerlach, Dallas, GA, and David Courtney, Newberry, FL; sister, Teresa Weltin, Dallas, TX; grandchildren, Linda Courtney, Port Richey, FL, Brian Courtney, Charlotte, NC, Irene Glebus, Ft. Mitchell, AL; great grandchildren, Alana Christensen, Port Richey, FL, and Aylene Christensen, Jacksonville, FL. She is preceded in death by her brothers, James Johnston, Charles Johnston, and Robert Johnston, Bedford, England.
Emily was born in Dublin, Ireland to James and Teresa Johnston. She married Don Courtney in 1955. Emily raised her family in the United States and Australia. She settled permanently in the United States in 1979. Her children remember her as a loving mother and a source of strength. Emily had a wonderful sense of humor and was fiercely independent.
