Emilie Ruth Puckett's Obituary
Emilie Puckett peacefully passed with her husband, Jim, by her side, on November 10, 2021. She has joined her loving parents in heaven.
Emilie was born to May Ruth Winters and Donald Andres Winters in Portsmouth, VA. The family moved to Miami, FL in 1946 and eventually settled in Gainesville, FL.
She lived a full and joyous 79 years. She leaves behind her husband Jim Puckett, sister, Kris Shaak (Graig); nieces, Tracy LaRosa (Rich) and Kerry Diaz (Mike); stepson, Clark Puckett (Susan); sister-in-law Margie Rose (Eddie). Emilie was a devoted and loving wife, daughter, sister, aunt, great-aunt, and stepmother.
She graduated from the University of Florida with a master’s degree in Art Education. She spent the next 44 years educating elementary children. 5th graders at Steven Foster Elementary School and as the Art teacher at Alachua Elementary.
Emilie lived life to the fullest. She had an intense appreciation for nature and all animals, especially dogs. Her devoted companion, Bucky, is already missing the loving attention of his Mama (she spoiled him).
Emilie and Jim shared a very sweet and special love. They also shared their devotion and appreciation of family and friends and included them in their special gatherings. Emilie loved to entertain and was a great hostess. She always dressed in style, loved to dance, laugh, and have a good time. Emilie was always sweet, friendly, and kind. Her family and countless friends will miss her great spirit.
A small family gathering is being planned at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to our local Humane Society/Pet Rescue www.humanesocietyncfl.org in Emilie’s name.
