Elmo Robert "Bob" Roark's Obituary
Elmo Robert (Bob) Roark, 80, resident of High Springs, Florida, received his crown of glory when he passed away at E.T. York Care Center on Monday, November 24 after a brief illness. Bob was born in Clifton, North Carolina to Roby and Jessie Roark. At a young age he joined the United States Air Force and later retired. He loved to reminisce about his love of airplanes and the work he performed to ensure pilots safety. Upon his return to civilian life, he worked at the University of Florida in the Electrical Engineering Department for 28 years before eventually retiring to his farm. Bob was well known for his love of the outdoors and his gardening skills. He received much joy in nurturing his trees, plants, flowers and garden boxes.
His loving wife Joyce preceded Robert in death. He is survived by his three children DeWayne (Alice) Roark, Phyllis (Jim) Basel, Janice (Jimmy) LeCompte and his three grandchildren, Byron, Darren and Marlena, and a sister Maedean Moore.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday, November 28, 2014 at 2:00 p.m., in the chapel of WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME WESTAREA, 823 NW 143rd Street, with Rev. Warren Chesser officiating. Interment will follow in Memorial Park Central, with full military honors. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service beginning at 1:00 p.m., at the funeral home.
