Mr. Edwin Flay Isenhour's Obituary
Mr. Edwin Flay Isenhour, 86, longtime resident of Gainesville, Florida, died Thursday, September 28, 2017 at his home, following a long illness.
Mr. Isenhour was born on April 25, 1931 to the late Flay V. and Johnsie Isenhour, in Newton, North Carolina. He graduated from Clemson University, and soon after began a long career with General Electric. Mr. Isenhour came to Gainesville in 1963, and began working at the G. E. battery plant in Alachua, later, Gates Energy Products, until his retirement after 37 years. He was a veteran of the U. S. Air Force, a longtime volunteer for North Florida Regional Medical Center, and the Gainesville Harvest. Mr. Isenhour was a golfer and a member of the Gator Senior Golfers.
He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Florence Hobbs Isenhour, of Gainesville; a son, Edwin F. Isenhour, Jr., of Port Orange, Fla.; a daughter, Elizabeth (Michael) Parker, of Celebration, Fla.; and two grandchildren, John Edwin Parker, and Katherine Elizabeth Parker, both of Celebration, Fla.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday, October 3, 2017 at 11:00 A. M., in the Chapel of Williams-Thomas Funeral Home Westarea, 823 NW 143rd St., with Rev. Tami Higdon, officiating.
