Edward Lloyd Wood's Obituary
We sadly announce the passing of Edward Lloyd Wood, born August 14, 1926 to parents Robert Pierce and Kathleen Lloyd Wood in Evinston, FL. Ed was a loving husband, father and granddaddy whose presence and guidance we will miss forever. Upon graduation from high school in Savannah, GA, he served two years in the Army Air Corp in Munich, Germany, returning to Gainesville to marry our mother and begin attending the University of Florida on the GI Bill. Graduating with a Masters of Economics degree a month prior to the birth of his first child, he began his career with Swift & Company in their agricultural chemical sales division. Ed's true passions, however, lay in farming watermelons for many years and spending time with his only grandchild, born when he was nearly eighty years old. He and Kaitlyn enjoyed many an hour of adventure and mischief, most often resulting in another addition to the menagerie of wild ducks, baby birds and hedgehogs he was invariably persuaded to either buy or rescue.
He is preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Pierce, Deaver and Billy Wood. Survived by his beloved and devoted wife, Christine, daughter, Kathy Chamberlin (Bruce), sons, Ricky and Greg (Charlotte) and granddaughter, Kaitlyn.
A memorial service for Ed will be held Saturday, September 21st at 2:00 P.M. in the Evinston Methodist Church, Evinston, FL where he regularly attended as a child and he and our mother were married. Memorial contributions in his memory to a charity of choice, the Alachua County Humane Society merely a suggestion since he patiently spent countless hours through the years dozing in their lobby while Kaitlyn nurtured and cuddled animals.
We love you forever, Daddy, rest peacefully.
