Edward P. Martin's Obituary
Edward P. Martin, 81, of Gainesville, FL passed away Tuesday, February 3, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Brooklyn, NY on March 4, 1944, to John and Anna Quinn Martin. Following graduation from high school Edward proudly served in the United States Navy. After his service in the US Navy, Edward served as a Treasury Air Security Officer, a precursor to the Federal Air Marshals, providing undercover security on commercial flights. He later purchased several residential properties and enjoyed managing his apartment buildings. One of his greatest joys was to solo travel around the world. He was a man of strong faith and served the student center at St. Augustine Catholic Church for many years. He later joined his beloved wife, Dr. Alicia R. Maun, long-time Gainesville resident, at Queen of Peace Catholic Church where they attended daily Mass together.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Johhny Martin.
Edward is survived by his loving wife of over 26 years, Dr. Alicia R. Maun, and his sister Anne “Cissie” Garvey.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday, February 21, 2026, at 11:00AM at Queen of Peace Catholic Church 10900 SW 24th Ave, Gainesville, FL with Fr. Al Esposito as celebrant.
