Edith Irene Hammack's Obituary
Edith Irene Hammack, 90, resident of Rockwood, Tennessee, formerly of Clarkston, Michigan and most recently of Newberry, Florida, died Monday, June 2, 2014, in the Roane Medical Center, following a long illness.
Mrs. Hammack was a native of Harlan County, Kentucky, daughter of the late William D. and Mary Stoner Tinker, and had lived for many years in Michigan where she was a member of the Columbia Avenue Baptist Church. She was active in the church choir and was a Sunday School teacher and WMU leader. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mr. Kermit Hammack, in 1995, and two infant sons, Joel Franklin and Donald Ray Hammack., a sister Ruby Ingle and two brothers Harlan and James Tinker.
She is survived by one son, Harlan David (Charlotte), of Crossville, Tennessee; one sister, Edna Thompson, of Orlando, Florida, two grandchildren, Joel and Shawna Hammack, and three great grandchildren, Gracie and Tanner Hammack, and Clayton Leathers.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 9, 2014 at 10:00 A. M., in the Chapel of WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME WESTAREA, 823 NW 143rd St., with Rev. Jack Andrews officiating. Interment will follow in Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell. The family will receive friends on Sunday, June 8, 2014 from 4 to 6 P. M., at the funeral home.
