Eddie A. Borges' Obituary
BORGES, Eddie A., age 90, passed away peacefully on August 22, 2017. Born February 3, 1927, in Tampa, Florida, to Aristides and Louisa Borges. In 1955, he married Joyce Graham of Stockport, England, at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Tampa. They celebrated their 60th anniversary just before her passing in 2015. Eddie was a life-long resident of Tampa prior to moving to Newberry, Florida, seven years ago to live with his oldest daughter Sharon Talaski and husband Alan.
In 1944, at age 17, he left Jefferson High School to enlist in the Navy to serve in World War II, or as he and his buddies used to call it – “the Big One”. He then became a Certified Public Accountant, founding partner of his own firm and practiced for over 50 years. Throughout his long career he saw many changes, from “pencil and paper” to the introduction of the computer. Always wanting to learn, at age 90, he proudly mastered the keyboard and got his first computer.
Eddie relished his role of husband, father and provider for his wife and three daughters. Even while on a business trip, he would bring the whole family and make a vacation for them while he worked tirelessly. Many wonderful memories were made on family beach vacations and trips to England. His generous nature extended well beyond being a husband, Daddy and an Abuelo.
Survived by daughter Sharon Talaski, husband Alan and son Jacob; daughter Deborah Borges and sons Bradley and Brandon Haskins and grandson Easton Haskins; and daughter Susan Charlow, husband Weston and daughters Emily and Natalie. He was preceded in death by his wife Joyce, and brother Louis Borges.
Services will be held Friday, September 1, 2017 at 10:30 a.m., in Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell with military honors. Special thanks to the Gainesville VA CHF team and Haven Hospice in Chiefland.
