Dr. Shio Agrawal's Obituary
Dr. Shio Agrawal passed away in Gainesville following a prolonged illness on June 17th, 2024. He was 87 years old.
Dr. Agrawal was born in Bihar, India to Jagmohan and Kadam Devi Sahu. He did his medical education at the Prince of Wales Medical College in Patna. He joined the Indian army as a medical officer from 1963 to ’65. He moved to United Kingdom for higher studies in 1967. He worked as a senior house officer and Registrar in Chest and Cardiology service at the Southampton Chest hospital.
In 1976 he immigrated to the United States. Dr. Agrawal worked as a House officer at the Trumbull Memorial hospital, Warren, Ohio and later joined the V.A. Medical Center in Saginaw as staff physician.
In 1986 Dr. Agrawal transferred to V.A. Medical Center in Lake City, Florida, and continued as a staff physician until his retirement in 2005. He was a longtime active member of the Indian community in Gainesville and was an active participant in all its activities and he and Geeta were well known for their hospitality.
Dr. Agrawal is survived by his wife of 48 years, Geeta and daughter Sonal.
Funeral services will be held in William Thomas Funeral Downtown Chapel, 404 N Main Street, Gainesville, Florida Friday, June 21, 2024 at 11am. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to the American Cancer Society or the American Heart Association.
