Gus Linton
Doug and I were close during high school and through our 20’s. We were close enough that years of separation never seemed to diminish our friendship. But life circumstances always kept us separated in space. I was in Michigan, Ethiopia, and California, and by the time I returned to Pennsylvania, Doug had moved away.
I have many fond memories of our youthful years together. Doug once bought an old Jaguar sports car that constantly coughed, hissed, sputtered, and wheezed. I was assigned to do sound effects for a play at a local community theater, and one scene required factory sounds. The director rejected the recording I had made at a local factory, so Doug and I recorded his Jag while its engine was idling. The director loved it!
Doug and I also got arrested once in Ann Arbor, Michigan, . . . but that’s another story.
I will always remember Doug for his constant good humor, his open mindedness, and his constancy. He was the kind of friend that you could rely on to be there if you ever needed him.
“It is from God we come and to God we return” (Quran 2:156). May Allah accept him!
With regrets and best wishes to Doug's family,
Gus Linton
