Douglas Edward Stanley Sherwood's Obituary
Douglas Edward Stanley Sherwood, 79, passed away on Thursday, July 17, 2025, due to complications from Parkinson’s Disease.
Born in Toronto, Canada, Doug moved with his family to Florida as a child. He proudly served in the U.S. Army as a microwave technologist during the Vietnam War, and later earned a Bachelor of Science degree from the University of Florida in 1978.
Doug was the owner of Sherwood Automotive in Gainesville for more than 25 years, a devoted Florida Gator fan, and an avid Smoky Mountain adventurer.
He is survived by his loving wife, Linda Sherwood; daughters, Shannon Deese and Laura Wickham; grandchildren Jacob Deese, Emma Deese, and Fiona Wickham; brother, Bruce Sherwood, and sister, Robin Bissey. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vic and Elna Sherwood.
