Douglas was born in Brockton, Massachusetts to Robert and June Hall Allen on November 21, 1954. His family were direct descendants of the original pilgrims. He was a graduate of Marshfield High School, then began his career as a welder and fabricator for many years, eventually working for the Orange County School Department as an A/C technician in Orlando, FL. He met and married the love of his life, Barbara J. Allen, and together they celebrated 45 years of marriage.
Douglas is preceded in death by his parents.
He is survived by his wife Barbara and their three children: Matthew Allen, Shennon Brown (Curtis), and Bryan Allen (Lor Bridwell), and his granddaughter, Emma Churchill. Also surviving are his sister Lynne Babbitt (David) and his brother Jaime Allen. His memory will live on in his family and the many loyal lifelong friends who remained close to him throughout his life.
Douglas was a devoted sports enthusiast and was a lifelong BIG New York Yankees fan. He often made trips to New York twice a year for Yankees games and Broadway shows. His love of sports spanned the generations—he most loved the sport of baseball and enjoyed watching any game from Little League, girls’ softball, and just about any baseball game brought him pleasure. He played in softball leagues all his life. Douglas also enjoyed and excelled at roller skating. He played roller hockey and dance and pairs and was in a national competition one year.
The family will gather for a memorial service to celebrate Douglas’ life in Massachusetts at a later date.
