Dorris Dean "Dottie" Jenkins' Obituary
Dorris Dean “Dottie” Jenkins, 77, resident of Micanopy, Florida, died Friday, November 28, 2014, in the Shands Hospital at the University of Florida, following a long illness.
Mrs. Jenkins was born on April 7, 1937 in Kewanee, Illinois to the late Wallace Wesley and Mary Elizabeth Purdy Morgeson. She lived most of her life in the Gainesville area, and was a longtime member of the Oak Park Baptist Church. Mrs. Jenkins was a lifelong educator, having taught at North Marion High School, Hawthorne High School and at Howard Bishop Middle School until her retirement in 1997. She enjoyed reading, was an avid Gator fan, and grew beautiful African Violets. She was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Mr. Elijah James Jenkins in 2013.
Survivors include, one son, Jim Jenkins, of Lakeland, Fla.; two brothers, William Morgeson, of Belleview, Fla., and James Morgeson, of Okeechobee, Fla.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, December 4, 2014 at 11:00 A. M., in the Oak Park Baptist Church, 4610 SW Archer Road, Gainesville, with Rev. Danny Austin, officiating.
