Mrs Dorothy Ann Foster's Obituary
Mrs. Dorothy Ann Foster, 85, longtime resident of Waldo, Florida, died Wednesday, June 5, 2024, in the E. T. York Hospice Care Center, Gainesville, following a brief illness.
Mrs. Foster was born in Gainesville, Florida on June 15, 1938, to the late Dale and Delsia Drew, and had lived in this area her entire life. Mrs. Foster worked for many years at Central Florida Office Supply until her retirement over twenty years ago. She was also very proudly a longtime Avon sales representative. Mrs. Foster was a longtime and very active member of Orange Heights Baptist Church, serving in many ministries including the shut-ins ministry, Operation Shoebox and, while attending Waldo Baptist Church, working in the Children’s church, alongside her late husband, Mr. Claude Foster, who preceded her in death in 2008. She enjoyed crafting, puzzles and watching her birds.
She was also preceded in death by her three brothers, Don, Billy and Ralph Drew.
She is survived by her four daughters, Christina Ann (Elgan) Altizer, of Waldo, Linda Wilson, of Ft. White, Donna Wilson, of Brooker and Pat Starling, of Hampton: by one son, Marty Wilson, of Gainesville. by two sisters, Patti (Lauren) Markham, of Lake City and Pam Eddy, of Tennessee. Twelve grandchildren, twenty-one great grandchildren and three great-great grandchildren also survive.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 8, 2024, at 10:00 A. M., at the Orange Heights Baptist Church, 16700 FL-26, Hawthorne, with church pastor Aaron Morgan, officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, June 7, 2024, from 5:00 to 7:00 P. M. at Williams-Thomas Funeral Home Downtown, 404 North Main Street, Gainesville. Interment will follow in Santa Fe Cemetery, Hampton, Florida.
