Doris J. Payton's Obituary
Doris J. Payton, 85, of Gainesville, Fla. and formerly of Hartford, Ky., passed away on Monday, July 7, 2014 in Gainesville.
She was born on May 23, 1929, in Hartford, Ky. to Noatley and Dana Jones. She married Quentin R. Payton on May 31, 1946. They were married for 55 years before he passed away in September 2001. She was also predeceased by her son Robert J. Payton who passed away in 1991.
She was a retired LPN and worked for many years at the Ohio County Hospital. She was a member of the Beaver Dam Baptist Church in Beaver Dam, Ky., and Trinity United Methodist Church in Gainesville.
She is survived by her son Fred Payton (Brenda) of Carrollton, Ga.; daughter Quenta Vettel (Larry) of Gainesville; grandchildren Dan Payton (Kemberly) of Olathe, Kan., David Payton (Lisa) of Newnan, Ga., Robert Payton (Michelle) of Lutz, Fla., Megan Franklin (Gabe) of Zephyrhills, Fla.; Charles Payton (Sara) of Dade City, Fla., Dana Schweer (Nate) of New York City, Jennifer Vettel of Atlanta, Ga.; seven great-grandchildren; and sister Mary Jo Halbrooks of Montgomery, Ala.
Services will be held Monday, July 14, 2014 at 11 a.m. at the Beaver Dam Baptist Church in Beaver Dam, Ky. with John Cashion and Dean Gray officiating. Arrangements are under the care of Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home in Hartford, Ky. Visitation will be on Sunday, July 13, 2014 from 3-7 p.m. at Miller-Schapmire Funeral Home and on Monday, July 14, 2014 from 10-11 a.m. at the Beaver Dam Baptist Church.
