Doris May Lowenstein's Obituary
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the death of Doris May Marsh, 89, of Gainesville, FL who died peacefully on June 6, 2022. Doris was born to Andrew and Thelma Marsh in Jersey City, NJ and grew up in Bloomfield, NJ where she graduated high school and met her future husband of nearly 67 years, Joe Lowenstein.
Doris worked as a preschool teacher, a reservations agent for Eastern Airlines, and as an executive secretary for many years, including her longest tenure at the University of Florida in the College of Journalism where she became an avid Gator fan. Doris was a Godly woman and was committed to her family, her friends, and her Sunday School class at Westside Baptist Church where she was a member for over 30 years.
Doris was preceded in death by her husband Joseph Lowenstein; her daughter, Linda Lowenstein; her daughter-in-law, Denise Lowenstein; and her sister, Virginia Harris. She is survived by her children, Ken of Ocean Township, NJ (wife Marion and children Stacey and Justin); Joe of Gainesville, FL (children Diana and Damon and grandson Collin); Rick of Duluth, GA (wife Susan and children Kate and Caroline); and her brother, Claude Marsh of Gainesville, FL.
The family will receive friends at Williams-Thomas Funeral Home at 404 N. Main St. in Gainesville from 5:00 to 7:00 PM on Friday June 10th and a Funeral Service will be held at Westside Baptist Church at 10000 W. Newberry Rd. in Gainesville at 11:00 AM on Saturday June 11.
