Donna Joy Bishop Eiland's Obituary
The Eiland and Bishop families mournfully announce the passing of their loved one, Donna Joy Bishop Eiland, 56, of Gainesville, FL. Donna passed peacefully in the early morning hours of July 24, 2017 along with the comforting and caring services of Haven Hospice of Gainesville.
Donna bravely fought against cancer, and all of her family and friends drew strength from her fighting spirit. While Donna is "absent from her body", her family and friends are comforted that she is "present with the Lord" now.
Donna was a lifelong Gainesville resident, graduating from Gainesville High School in 1979. She went straight into the family business at Pinewood Properties of Gainesville, Inc. She recently retired from Pinewood, after 37 years of service, in order to spend more time with her family.
Donna and her husband, Mark Eiland have been together since they were married on February 25, 1983 at Highlands Presbyterian Church. Donna was the traditional softball mom and her children's sporting events were her highest priority. She was also an avid Gator fan supporting the Gators in many sports. Donna also loved the outdoors, spending many of her years near the water at Crystal River.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Pam Bishop, her brother, Greg Bishop, and her father-in-law, Melvin Eiland.
Donna is survived by her husband, Mark Eiland and their three children, James Eiland (Traci), Erin Eiland, and Clayton Eiland; her father, Doug Bishop; sister, Sande Hunter, and grandson, Bret Eiland.
A Celebration of Donna’s Life will be held Tuesday, August 1, 2017 at 5:00 p.m. in the chapel of WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME WESTAREA, 823 NW 143rd Street. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Haven Hospice, 4200 NW 90th Boulevard, Gainesville, FL 32606.
