Donald McNeal's Obituary
Dr. Donald R. McNeal died early Wednesday morning, Dec 1, 2021, at UF Shands Hospital. Don was 85 years old and is survived by: Wife Sarah Page McNeal; son Jason McNeal; daughters Alayna Fay and Page Steffens; sons-in-law Kevin Steffens, Treve Andersen and Adam Trulove; grandchildren Jack and Joe McNeal of Gainesville, FL, Justin Steffens of Julington Creek, FL, along with Fin Andersen and Lila Faye Trulove of Maui, Hawaii. Don received his DMD degree from University of Alabama in Birmingham enjoying productive and innovative leadership roles in the field of Community Dentistry at the Universities of Alabama, Michigan, Kentucky, Tennessee and Florida. He achieved rank of Colonel US Army Reserve, served active duty during Desert Shield Storm. He and Sarah have enjoyed many wonderful years together particularly at home on Star Lake in Hawthorne, at the beach house in The Hammock and worshipping with our Church Family at Keystone United Methodist Church. He is beloved and forever with us.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, December 10, 2021 at 11:00 A. M., in the Chapel of Williams-Thomas Funeral Home Downtown, 404 North Main Street, Gainesville, with Dr. Tom Farmer, officiating. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 A. M., and a reception will follow the service.
