Donald F. Strickland, Jr.'s Obituary
Donald F. Strickland, Jr. passed away peacefully at E T York Hospice Care Center
on February 15, 2023, with his family beside him, as a result of a long battle with Alzheimer’s Disease.
Don was born October 5, 1951, at AGH in Gainesville to Donald Sr. and Thetis (Betty) Strickland. He graduated from GHS in 1970 and attended Santa Fe Community College. He retired from GRU after 33 years of service.
Don is survived by his wife of 50 years, Brenda Green, their son Donald (Donnie) III, and his beloved dog Molly. His 97 year young mother, Betty; Sandra and Randy Burford, Kirby and Donna Green, Nancy and Finis Southworth and Travis and Lauren Green; 2 nieces and 7 nephews.
He is preceded by his father Don and in-laws Kirby and Christine Green.
Don was an ordained Deacon and served as Men’s Sunday School teacher for many years.
Don enjoyed working in his yard, fishing, going to the gym and daily walks.
He will be remembered by his family and friends for his unconditional love and kindness.
A graveside service will be held Monday, February 20, 2023 at 11:00 am at Forest Meadows Central. 4100 NW 39 Ave. Gainesville.
If you are able to attend the service the family request that you dress casual.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donation in support of ET York Haven Hospice Care Center, 4200 NW 90 Blvd, Gainesville FL. 32606
