Donald "Don" L. Schladant's Obituary
Donald “Don” L. Schladant 83, of Alachua FL., passed away on the evening of September 18, 2021, at home surrounded by his family.
He was born on October 11, 1937, in Borden, Indiana to Joseph and Alma Kiefer Schladant.
Don met the love of his life, Darlene Burdette, when they were very young, they married and moved to Miami FL., when Don was only 20 years old to take a job to work for Climatrol, throughout their marriage, they would have five children.
Don was good with his hands and could fix almost anything, he loved gardening, and canning and his smile was contagious. He retired after 42 years with Climatrol and they moved up to Gainesville to be closer to family. Don was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Darlene Elizabeth Burdette Schladant; Son, Robert Schladant; daughters, Diane Worth (Danny), Karen Connelly, Deborah Hendricks (Richard); daughter- in law, Lynda Schladant, sister-in-law, Barbara Schladant.
He is preceded in death by his son, William “Billy” Schladant; and brother, Gerald Schladant.
The family will receive friends on Friday, September 24, 2021, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Williams-Thomas Funeral Home Westarea 823 N.W. 143rd street Newberry, Fl.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, September 25, 2021, at 10:00 a.m. at Queen of Peace Catholic Church 10900 S.W.24th Ave. Gainesville, FL. with Fr. Alberto Esposito as Celebrant.
