Domingo Navarro Zamora's Obituary
Domingo Navarro Zamora, “Papa/Papasito”, age 89, longtime resident of Gainesville, Florida, died Sunday, July 22, 2018, following a short illness.
Mr. Navarro was born in San Carlos, Panama on January 28, 1929 and came to the United States in 1967 and became a citizen in 2013. He came to Gainesville in 1969, and shortly after, began a long career with Gainesville Regional Utilities, working for over 20 years, before retiring in 1993. Papa, as he was known to his family and friends, was a member of Holy Faith Catholic Church, and a member of the Communication Workers of America Union, Local #3170. He enjoyed all of the Gator sports, but the love and great joy of his life, was his family. He was an amazing husband, a wonderful father and the best grandfather. Papa had a love for life and everyone he met. He was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Claudia Nicole Cox.
He is survived by his wife of over 62 years Angela DeNavarro; two daughters, Dalys (Tony) Avila of Gainesville and Xiomara (Daniel) Cox of St. Augustine; one son, Angel Navarro of Atlanta, GA; three granddaughters, Danielle Cox of Denver, CO, Lauren (Wesley) Hunt of Ponte Vedra and Lindsay Avila of Washington, D.C.; and by one great granddaughter on the way, Harper Sunday Hunt.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Saturday, August 4, 2018 at 9:00 a.m., at Holy Faith Catholic Church with Fr. Emmanuel Pazhayapurackal as celebrant.
