Derek G. Nash's Obituary
Derek G. Nash of Gainesville, FL, born in 1930 in Tredegar, Wales passed away October 5, 2017 surrounded by his loving family.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Grace Nash; daughter, Eileen Marzak (husband Greg); son, Derek Nash (wife Kim); daughter, Leslie Lassen; grandchildren, Christa, Angela, and Anna Marzak, Larissa Nash, Julia and Laura Lassen; brother, Thomas Nash, and many nieces and nephews.
He now rests in peace with parents, Clifford and Margaret Nash; first wife, Josephine Nash; sister, Joyce Vigorito; brother, Horace Nash; sister, Ann Wofford, and son, David McDonald.
He immigrated to the United States at the age of 18, resided in Paterson, NJ and later became a US citizen. He served honorably in the Korean War for the US Army. He was a professional soccer player and was selected to the US National team in 1955. He was recognized for soccer achievements in the Paterson, NJ Hall of Fame.
A Funeral Mass will be held Saturday, November 25, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 10900 SW 24th Ave. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fisher House Foundation, 5106 NW 8th Avenue, Gainesville, FL 32605 or St Jude's Research Hospital at 501 St Jude Place, Memphis TN 38105.
