Dennis W Cox's Obituary
Dennis W. Cox, age 87, of Gainesville, passed away on Tuesday, March 17, 2026. He was born on December 5, 1938, in Trenton, New Jersey, to Edward H. Cox and Dorothy Doris Smith Cox.
Dennis proudly served his country in the United States Navy. He was the owner of Atlantis Painting and Cox Cleaning and Maintenance, and he also worked for the Alachua County School Board.
Dennis had a deep love for fishing, hunting and wood working, and he especially enjoyed playing Bingo. A devoted servant of Christ, he served as the head of the men’s ministry group “Men of Faith,” where he inspired and encouraged many through his leadership and faith.
He is survived by his loving wife, Lisa M. Cox, children. Anne Marie Dvorak (Frank), Cindy Norato (Jimmy), Karen Kramer, Mary Jane Cox (Frank), Tim Tees (Pam); foster daughter, Tammy Jenkins (Alan) and his wife’s children, Kelly Princiotta (Jess) and Nick Princiotta; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; daughter-in-law, Sharon Hayes Berry (Herb); brother in law Bill and sister in law Diane Holahan and special friends, Fred and Deborah, Joseph and Michelle, Murray and Helen, Jim, Dee and Josh and Anthony and his beloved dog, Patches.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Ed Cox; son, Dennis Cox, Jr.; grandson, Steven Dvorak; granddaughter, Nikki Cox and son-in-law, Tony. He was preceded by wife, Barbara Cox.
A celebration of life will be held Saturday May 9, 2026 from 12:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the Alachua County Senior Recreation Center, 5701 NW 34 Blvd. Gainesville with military honors.
