Delynn Armstrong Barton's Obituary
Delynn (Armstrong) Barton, age 87, of Gainesville passed away on December 7, 2022. She was born on September 2, 1935 to the late James G. and Candace Armstrong. Raised in Orlando, Delynn was a graduate of Boone High School in 1953. She graduated from Florida Southern College in 1957 where she was active in the Pi Beta Phi Sorority. Delynn was a Hospital Dietician and later, an Elementary School Teacher before staying home to raise three children. She continued her studies, earning a Master’s Degree in Library Science and PhD in Information Science from Nova Southeastern University.
Delynn was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, George M. Barton in 2008. She remarried some years later, and also was preceded in death by her second husband Donald D. Stotts in early 2022. She is survived by a brother James G. Armstrong Jr.; son George Jr. and his wife Pam; son Michael and his wife Irina; daughter Leslie and her husband Fernando; several cousins, grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Delynn will be remembered for her gentle and loving nature as well as her sense of humor and wit. She was a lifelong Florida Gators fan. Delynn will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
