Deborah Lynn Smith's Obituary
Deborah Lynn Smith, 67, longtime resident of LaCrosse, Florida, died Friday, October 4, 2019 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Deborah was born on November 21, 1951 in Clarksburg, West Virginia, she came to Florida along with her family as a child, growing up in the St. Petersburg area, and graduating from the University of South Florida with a degree in Business. She met her soulmate on Valentines Day in 1974 and married in 1976. She came to Gainesville in 1975, and began a long career in merchandising with several local companies; Keebler, Kraft and Acosta to name a few. Deborah owned and operated, along with her family, Smitty’s Restaurant in Newberry. Ahead of everything was her family and doing for others. She was a giving person, always putting others first, she enjoyed Bowling and playing pranks on family and friends. Deborah was a longtime member of Holy Faith Catholic Church.
She was preceded in death by her father, Jack Louis Smith; a brother, Dirk Louis Smith and a brother in law, Philip William Smith.
She is survived by her husband of 43 years, Gregory Allen Smith; one daughter, Donna Lynn Smith, of LaCrosse; her mother, Virginia Smith, of Gainesville; a brother, John Francis(Linda Sue) Smith, of St. Augustine; a sister, Linda Ann Fielder, of Gainesville; Sister-in-law, Wilma Marie(John) Reid, of Glen Ellyn, IL, a brother-in-law, Daniel Clark (Denise) Smith, of Rockford, IL; nieces, Jennifer Elaine Frignoca and Elizabeth Ann Froess; and one nephew, Jeffrey Keith Fielder.
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2019 at 9:00 A. M., in the Holy Faith Catholic Church, Gainesville, with Fr. John Phillips, celebrant. The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 8:00 A. M. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Greg Smith at P.O. Box 93, La Crosse, FL 32658.
