Dawn Stephens Mendoza's Obituary
Dawn Stephens Mendoza, age 62 of Newberry, FL passed away Monday, September 26, 2016 with her beloved cat “Shadow”. She was born June 17, 1954 in Jacksonville, FL to Foy W. and Myra Macy Stephens.
Dawn was raised in Gainesville and graduated from PK Yonge. She retired from the University of Florida Agriculture and Biological Engineering Department. Dawn loved the outdoors, especially the beach.
She was preceded in death by her father, Foy W. Stephens, sister, Robin Little and brother, Rick Stephens.
Dawn is survived by her mother, Myra Stephens of Gainesville, FL; daughters, Michelle Clark (Gregory) of Lewiston, MI; Amanda G. Mendoza (Troy Beckham) of Newberry, FL; brothers, Scott Stephen of Belleview, FL; Shawn Stephens of Homosassa, FL; grandchildren, Vincent and Haylee Clark and one on the way, Cayden Beckham.
A Celebration of Life will be held Tuesday, October 4, 2016 at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME WESTAREA, 823 NW 143rd Street. The family will receive friends Monday, October 3, 2016, 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Alachua County Humane Society, 4205 NW 6th Street, Gainesville, FL 32609.
