David Earl Qualls' Obituary
David Earl Qualls, age 63 of Gainesville, Florida passed away unexpectedly Saturday, February 28, 2015.
He was born August 15, 1951, in Memphis Tennessee to James Earl and Alma Christine Powers Qualls.
The family moved to Tampa, where David grew up. There he made his first TV appearance on the Uncle Bruce Bible Hour, graduated from Robinson High School and later USF.
His great sense of adventure led him down many paths and to many places, but his heart was always in Colorado. Early on, some might have called him a “Jack of all Trades,” but he was Master of each one of them. David had a keen intellect and an uncanny ability to hone in on the root of any problem. These were skills he put to good use at Sigma Design, in his own consulting business, at ICG, and finally at CSG Systems as a Principal Software Architect. David did not suffer fools lightly, but he had a good heart, a strong moral compass and was loved and respected by his family, friends, co-workers and most who knew him.
He is survived by his wife Laura Qualls, daughters, Mary, Rachel and Rebecca Qualls, sister Sharon Thomas, niece Connie Crosby, nephew Kevin Thomas (Karri Thomas), great nephew Zachary Hendricks and great niece Destiny Crosby. He was preceded in death by Thor and Buddy, his two faithful canine companions.
Celebration of Life Service will be held Saturday, March 14, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME WESTAREA, 823 NW 143rd Street. For those who wish, donations may be made to Haven Hospice, 4200 NW 90th Blvd. Gainesville, FL 32606.
