David Lee Cantlin's Obituary
David Lee Cantlin, age 69 of La Crosse, FL, passed away Tuesday, May 2, 2017. He was born in St. Petersburg, FL, September 29, 1947, to George William and Mildred Florence Hodnett Cantlin.
David received his B. S. degree in Forestry and Wildlife Conservation at the University of Florida in 1969. He also earned an M. A. degree in Wildlife Ecology from the University. He retired from the Soil & Water Science Department at the University after 28 years of service.
David was an avid outdoorsman. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, photography and constantly read books about Florida history. He especially enjoyed spending time with his friends and family.
He is survived by his daughter, Larissa R. (Sean) Cantlin-Plemons of Gainesville, FL; brother, William (Linda) Cantlin of Ashford, AL; sister, Ann Cantlin of Madison, FL; numerous cousins, and “chosen granddaughter”, Ava-Elaine.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. in the chapel of WILLIAMS-THOMAS FUNERAL HOME DOWNTOWN (Gainesville, FL) with The Rev. Jeremy Hole officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Tall Timbers Land Conservancy, www.TallTimbers.org (850-893-4153).
