David Michael Acton's Obituary
Born August 15th 1938 in Miami, Florida to Claude Palmer Acton and Esther Corbin Acton.
Dave was a graduate of the Miami Sr. High class of 1956. Upon graduation he served in the US Army for 6 years including 2 years in France. He then began his studies at the college of Pharmacy at the University of Florida. He graduated in 1963 and began his career soon afterwards at South Miami Hospital where he served as the Director of the Pharmacy for almost 20 years. He left SMH to open a medical supply business that serviced doctors, schools and businesses across Miami/Dade. The keys to Dave's success were hard work and dedication to excellent customer service. Dave and Suzanne returned to Gainesville in their retirement to continue supporting the University of Florida. (Go Gators!)
The greatest joy in Dave’s life was his family. He was very proud of his 3 children and 6 grandchildren.
Dave’s love for Jesus Christ was his motivation for living a life of service to his church and community. He was a student of the Bible who sought to live out what he read in God’s Word. He was also proud to serve as a Deacon of Central Baptist Church in Miami, Florida.
Dave is survived by Suzanne, his wife of 55 years, and his children, David (Chanelle), Deborah Buell (Kevin) and Jennifer Acton as well as his grandchildren; Francesca, Christopher, Isabella, Olivia, Suzanne and Connor.
His family would like to thank the doctors, therapists and staff of the Shands Movement Disorder Center for their love, attention and excellent care that allowed Dave to successfully fight the effects of Parkinson’s Disease for over 10 years.
A memorial service to celebrate Dave’s life will be held at Westside Baptist Church on Sunday, March 4th at 4pm. In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to The Center for Movement Disorder PO 100243 Gainesville, FL 32610 or Westside Baptist Church Missions Department.
