Danny Buckley's Obituary
Danny Buckley, age 54, of Alachua, Fl passed away Wednesday, July 6, 2022. He now resides in the kingdom of Heaven.
Danny was born in Jacksonville, Fl September 9, 1967, to James and Doris Buckley. Danny grew up in Keystone Heights, Fl, and graduated from Keystone High School and Santa Fe College.
Danny was an officer with Gainesville Police Department and then served 25 years as a deputy with the Alachua County Sheriff’s Office. Danny assisted in coordinating the Cops Against Cancer, Climb for Cancer trail ride for five consecutive years. Danny was also a deacon at New Oak Grove Baptist Church in Alachua, Fl. He participated in two mission trips to Costa Rica, assisting in children’s ministry and building a school.
Danny enjoyed woodworking, welding, and leather crafting, and had a passion for horses. He enjoyed roping cattle on his horse Nugget.
Danny is survived by his loving wife of 32 years, Tina Hines Buckley; Daughter, Jessica (Marcus) McCoy of Lake City, Fl; Son, Garrett Buckley of Alexandria, VA (who is serving in the US Navy); Brother, David (Patty) Buckley of Easley, SC; sister, Diane (Stephen) DeGraff of Melrose, Fl; Father, James Buckley of Melrose, Fl; Grandson, Colton.
A Celebration of Danny’s life will be held Saturday, July 23, 2022, at 2:00 pm at New Oak Grove Baptist Church 18100 NW 262nd Ave Alachua, Fl with Pastor Terry Elixson officiating. A dessert reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Danny’s honor to Climb for Cancer Foundation at climbforcancerfoundation.org.
