D W "Doug" Haynes' Obituary
D W "Doug" Haynes of Gainesville, Florida passed away surrounded by his family on Wednesday, September 29, 2021, at the age of 83 after a short battle with cancer. He was born on February 26, 1938, in Sumiton Town, AL, as the youngest child of the late Wyatt and Ida (Short) Haynes.
Doug was a man of abiding faith and member of Calvary Baptist Church in Alachua. He loved to share God’s message of Salvation, Grace, and Mercy. He loved people and enjoyed a good story filled with laughs. Doug’s love of singing gospel hymns stirred the soul of all who listened.
Doug is survived by his loving wife, Barbara; and leaves behind 3 generations to carry on his legacy including children: Terry, Cameron, and Lisa; grandchildren: Tara, Loree, Austin, Erik, Faith, Landon & Kristin; great-grandchildren: Zach, Alex, Mattis, Lucy, and Jamison.
Doug was preceded in death by wife of 56 years, Erma; his parents; and siblings: Inez, Duel, Herbert, Geraldine, and Helen.
A celebration of Doug’s life will be held at Williams- Thomas Funeral Home Westarea 823 N.W. 143rd Street Newberry, FL. on Saturday, October 09, 2021, at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor James Bramblett officiating.
The family will receive friends from 9:30 a.m. until the hour of service. Burial will follow at Forest Meadows West.
