February 18, 1961 – March 20, 2025
Cindy Lutes-Pelt, 64, of Middleburg, FL, passed away on March 20, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.
Born on February 18, 1961, in Franklin, Indiana, Cindy brought a special kind of light into the world—fiery, fun-loving, and unapologetically herself.
Cindy later made Florida her home, where she lived for most of her adult life. She embraced life with a spirit of adventure, always seeking new experiences through her love of traveling and cruising. Whether exploring new destinations or cherishing time with her beloved dogs or friends, Cindy lived each day to the fullest. She began her career in retail management for several years and then dedicated 25 years of service to JEA, where she was a valued employee and well respected. A day wasn’t complete without her tending her digital games and falling asleep to an audiobook. Cindy was known to constantly encourage her children to be independent and follow their strong convictions. She possessed a strong will, a playful attitude, showed kindness and fierce loyalty to those she loved.
She shared 25 wonderful years of marriage with her husband, David Pelt. Cindy is survived by her daughter Tiffany Moore (partner Aaron Smith) of Portland, OR; daughter Dawn Harrell and grandson Christian Farley of Lake City; son Michael Pelt of Jacksonville; son David Pelt Jr. of Douglas, GA; and her mother, Roberta Porter, of McCordsville, IN. She was preceded in death by her father, Lloyd Lutes.
A celebration of Cindy’s life will be held at her family home in Middleburg on Sunday, March 30, beginning at 3 PM, with a toast in her honor at 5 PM.
Cindy’s legacy is one of strength, kindness, attitude and love. She lived loudly and loved deeply—and those who knew her are forever better for it.
