Man, Mrs. Cleo loved softball as much as I did! We played together in a church league in Hawthorne. She would smack that ball and run to the bases. She was great at catching and throwing too! We were playing one night when I got on base and made it around to 2nd base. The next batter got a hit and I was headed home when their 3rd base player tried to catch me in a pickle play, but I kept on running, so she hit me in the back with the ball! I was safe, but couldn't stop laughing and Mrs. Cleo told me, "Lizbeth, tonight you gonna have to run faster!"
I treasure the times spent with Cleo. Allen would go over to see Buddy about something, I would ride along with him so I could go and sit and talk with Cleo. We talked about her beautiful flowers, her extremely large, gorgeous Christmas Cactus. We loved the both of them. So many fond memories. She was a wonderful friend and God loving Christian. We will truly miss Ms. Cleo. May she RIP and enjoy all of God's glories. Allen & Lynn Baxley
